Storytelling Training – Storytelling with Intent

After a year of research, development, and testing, the latest version of my Storytelling With Intent training workshop is now ready for delivery. Drawing on more than 30 years’ experience in shaping and sharing other people’s stories, this program helps professionals tell their own stories with greater clarity, confidence, and impact. It is designed for executives, sales teams, change leaders, and anyone who needs to engage, influence, and inspire through storytelling in a business context. The workshop builds capability in both story development and story delivery, covering three core areas:

1. Influencing through storytelling

Participants explore:

  • Why storytelling is central to human existence
  • The true starting point of every effective story
  • What modern audiences expect from business storytellers
  • How to define your role and intent as a storyteller

2. The building blocks of great stories

Key concepts include:

  • The Five Essential Elements of powerful stories
  • Finding your Minimum Viable Story
  • Balancing What, Why, and How
  • Avoiding the “And…” trap
  • Strategic use of details to increase impact
  • Using personal stories and anecdotes appropriately
  • Finding and connecting with your story’s hero

3. Mastering effective storytelling

Participants learn how to:

  • Acheive their core objectives through storytelling
  • Craft a compelling First 15 Seconds – hook, offer, or promise
  • Master the fundamentals of stagecraft to be seen, heard, and remembered
  • Create Moments That Matter with audiences
  • Manage presentation anxiety
  • Maximise the benefits of rehearsal

The workshop is delivered as a half-day interactive session, blending practical frameworks, group discussion, and hands-on exercises. Participants are invited to reflect deeply on their intentions as storytellers and experiment with techniques that strengthen both content and delivery.

The program can be preceded by Narrative Development sessions to clarify broader organisational stories and followed by one-on-one coaching to refine specific narratives or presentation skills.
